Sportsweek Cricket Club had sought the appointment of an

amicus curiae

to inspect and examine the draft amendment of the

GCA

constitution. The Margao-based club, represented by Hemant Angle, had alleged that the amendments were not being done in the right manner.

On Wednesday, however, the High Court of Bombay at Goa dismissed the petition as withdrawn.

“The petition was dismissed with liberty to the petitioner to approach the court if he feels aggrieved,” Angle said in an email circulated to the media.

“The judges said let the meeting happen. We can attend and vote. If we find that the constitution is not amended according to the Lodha reforms, we could go back to the court,” said Angle.

The GCA has called for an annual general body meeting on Sunday to amend its constitution – following directives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Angle, a known critic of the current dispensation, has also written a separate letter to the Committee of Administrators (CoA), claiming the GCA is “trying to amend the entire constitution, in the garb of Lodha Commission reforms.”
