HC appoints 2 pvt members to Anjuna noise monitoring panel
Panaji: The high court of Bombay at Goa on Wednesday appointed two private members to the noise monitoring committee to oversee noise monitoring in Anjuna and Vagator.
The two members, Kamlakar Naik from Mapusa and retired Capt Gerald Fernandes from Morjim, were appointed to the three-member committee along with the DySP, advocate general Devidas Pangam told reporters after the hearing. Naik, a resident of Mapusa, retired as assistant administration officer of Garrison Engineer Gomantak, Vasco (Military Engineering Service) ministry of defence, and has been active in social work since his retirement, state govt submitted to the high court.
Petitioner Desmond Alvares told the court that a member of the previous noise monitoring committee was removed as he was staying in Mapusa.
“The committee will have to conduct surprise visits and also chalk out a strategy to curb noise and report to the court,” Pangam said. “The committee will have to submit compliance reports to the high court from time to time,” he added.
