Haryana resident’s suicide: Wife, lover detained at Anjuna
Panaji: Goa police on Wednesday detained a Haryana woman and her lover, a Maharashtra resident, for allegedly mentally harassing her husband, who died by suicide in Haryana last week.Divya Magan Suhag, 27, a resident of Rohtak in Haryana, and Deepak Sonawane, 36, a resident of Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) in Maharashtra, were detained at Anjuna. Goa police later handed over their custody to Haryana police. North Goa SP Rahul Gupta said the two had been detained in an abetment to suicide case.Goa police received information from the station house officer of the Bahuakbarpur police station in Rohtak that Suhag and Sonawane were likely to be in the Anjuna area.Gupta said that local intelligence helped nab the accused. “Suhag and Sonawane were traced by the detection staff of the Anjuna police station and handed over to the Bahuakbarpur police personnel who reached Anjuna on Wednesday evening,” he said.A video that Suhag’s husband — identified only as Magan — received just before he ended his life has now surfaced, showing Suhag dancing while her lover records the footage.
In the video, Suhag and Sonawane can be seen engaging in intimate, taunting behaviour. According to Magan’s family, Suhag herself sent this video to him. The family said the emotional trauma stemming from the video led Magan to hang himself. Before dying, Magan recorded the video in which he alleged that his wife and her lover were mentally harassing him. He claimed that she had pressured him to murder his own father and sell his ancestral land so that Sonawane could get a promotion in the police force. In the video, Magan appealed to police to take strict action against the two.Magan’s body was found hanging from a tree on the night of June 18 at Dobh village. His family members discovered the body after they began searching for him upon seeing the suicide video he had posted on social media earlier that morning. In the video, Magan holds his wife and Sonawane responsible for his suicide. He says, “Divya has an affair with Deepak, a policeman posted in Sambhajinagar. Both have mentally tortured me.”
