Gulem woman attacked by wild boar

Canacona: A middle-aged woman, Jayanti Velip was seriously injured on Tuesday morning at Velwada-Poinguinim after a wild boar attacked her while she was working in a field. She is a resident of Gulem-Canacona.
According to reports, she was working in the field of Laxman Prabhugaonkar when a wild boar came charging at her. Velip fought boldly with both her hands, but the wild boar caused several injuries to her. She fought extremely hard with the wild boar and caught hold of its snout before it ran away.
After receiving treatment at the Canacona community health centre, the field owner, Laxman Prabhugaonkar, filed a complaint with the forest department.
Forest officer Anant Velip confirmed that his office received an application, and after assessing it, necessary action would be taken. Velipadded that based on the injuries, compensation would be given to the woman.
