GU opens postgraduate admissions for 2025-26

Panaji: Goa University has opened postgraduate admissions at the varsity and affiliated colleges for 2025-26. Students can register online for the Goa University Admission Ranking Test (GU-ART) until Feb 10 and the test is scheduled to be conducted from March 2.

Admissions to the BEd programme at GU-affiliated colleges will be based on GU-ART and the directorate of higher education’s eligibility criteria.

Final-year students can take GU-ART for provisional admission, confirmed upon UG results. If they fail, admission shall be cancelled and fees will be refunded.

“Admissions to the postgraduate programmes shall be entirely based on the GU-ART. The marks/percentage obtained by the candidate while graduating would only be used to ascertain the eligibility of candidates for the programme. The purpose of the GU-ART is only to rank the prospective candidates,” the GU notification states.

“A merit list is prepared after the GU-ART, followed by counselling for seat allotment. No seats will be allotted to students absent for the counselling,” GU further said.

The GU-ART first-round exams will be held on March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, and April 6.

“Candidates shall be permitted to apply for a maximum of five subjects/specialisations for the PG and/or BEd programmes. The GU-ART shall be of one paper of 100 marks, containing 50 objective multiple-choice questions of 2 marks each. There shall be negative marking, where half a mark shall be deducted for each wrong answer. No marks shall be deducted for unanswered questions. The duration of the GU-ART shall be 90 minutes,” the GU notification reads.

GU will conduct additional GU-ART rounds only if seats remain vacant in the respective programmes. However, candidates answering later rounds will be ranked after those from previous rounds.
