officially declared the name of Shirodkar as GSM’s candidate. The decision was taken after the GSM state executive committee met both district committees and the advisory committee.

Reacting to Parrikar’s statement that after August 28, he will implement an action plan over the next 365 days for the development of Panaji, Naik said that Parrikar was MLA of Panaji since the last 25 years. “He has been chief minister for seven years, and now he will start to work for Ponnjekars?” Naik said.

Shirodkar said, “We will make sure that Parrikar does not get a walkover in Panaji. We will fight with full efforts to win the byelection,” Hrudaynath said.

“Parrikar has been a failure as MLA of Panaji and also as a MLA of BJP. He has not allowed any others to grow as leaders in BJP,” said Anand.

“To save democracy and to get rid of corruption, we have to defeat Parrikar in the election. The entire GSM family will work to defeat Parrikar in Panaji and in the coming days, we will prepare a strategy to defeat him,” he said.
Anand will file his nomination papers either on Thursday or Friday, while the GSM will announce its candidate for Valpoi shortly.
