Green-impact report skips key spots, Bhoma wants new study
Ponda: After finding several important landmarks missing in the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report for a new highway from Bhoma village, its residents have demanded that the study be carried out again. A resolution to this effect was passed in the gram sabha held on Sunday.
The meeting also resolved to ask the local MLAGovind Gaude to visit the panchayat office along with national highways authority officials to explain the technicalities pertaining to the proposed highway.
The minister had earlier held a meeting of the villagers at his office at Mardol in the Veling-Priol-Kuncoliem panchayat jurisdiction, but people were dissatisfied with the exchange.
Sarpanch Damodar Naik who chaired the gram sabha told the media that the village body would write to the national highway authorities in Goa and at the Centre. He also said that the MLA would be invited to the panchayat to explain the plan for the proposed four-laning at the village.
The locals have demanded that the new road construction be done as stipulated by an earlier regional plan which had shown a bypass to the proposed road.
