PANAJI: The chief electrical engineer of the
Goa electricity department
,
Dipak S Bhajekar
in all likelihood, will be relieved from office towards the end of the week after he was served a one month’s notice by the government.
Bhajekar who held the post of additional general manager, WRTS-II at the
Power corporation of India Ltd
, Gurgaon was appointed on 14 September, 2015 to the post of chief electrical engineer by an order of transfer on deputation, for a period of two years after the Goa electricity department did not have an adequately qualified person to fill the post.
After receiving the notice to be relieved within a month’s time, Bhajekar requested the state government to permit him to continue till September 2016 so that he could complete a full year in service, but Bhajekar had not received any indication from the government.
Bhajekar was promoted from additional general manager WRTS-II at the Power grid to general manager but wasn’t able to join back due to his commitments with the electricity department in Goa. The Power grid requested the government of Goa to relieve him for a day so that he could take charge as the general manager, after which he would join back in Goa on deputation. The Goa government instead decided to relieve him of his services altogether.
In his letter to the government, Bhajekar has stated that he is sincerely trying to improve the working of the electricity department, despite not receiving his salary for the past eight months. He has received only a provisional salary up to the month of March.
In the government’s notice, Under-secretary Personnel-II, Surendra F Naik, has asked Bhajekar to hand over his charge in Goa to Laxmikant D Kolvekar, superintending engineer.
