PANAJI: Governor S S Sidhu took stock of the law and order situation in the state during a meeting with chief minister Digambar Kamat and home minister Ravi Naik at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula on Saturday.
The meeting lasted for one hour during which the governor enquired about various issues pertaining to the home department, especially law and order. DGP Bhimsain Bassi was also present.
‘‘It was a routine meeting’’ said secretary to the Governor Narendra Kumar, who is also the state’s development commissioner.
Naik said the governor enquired about the security arrangments for the forthcoming festive season and also for the new tourism season.‘‘We informed the governor of our preparedness'', he said.
It couldn’t be confirmed if the issue of drug mafia nexus was discussed, particularly the main link in the case - Atala - going missing. Sources told TOI that Naik told Sidhu that it was totally wrong that he has not acted against the drug mafia.
Naik said that the alleged big names Dudu and also Atala were arrested during his tenure as home minister though the duo had been operating in Goa for many years.
