Goa state film festival to conclude today

The four-day Goa state film festival will come to a close on Sunday evening in the presence of Marathi film stars such as Alka Kubal, Sameer Atle, Sandesh Kulkarni, Ramesh Dev, Ashalata and others.

PANAJI: The four-day Goa state film festival will come to a close on Sunday evening in the presence of Marathi film stars such as Alka Kubal, Sameer Atle, Sandesh Kulkarni, Ramesh Dev, Ashalata and others.
Fourteen Konkani films and eight Marathi films were screened during the course of the festival.
“All these films will be screened again for the benefit of the general public who could not attend the festival.

The screening will take place from April 15 to 23 at the Maquinez I and II screens. The screening will be free of cost and on first-come-first-serve basis,” said Damodar Naik, vice-chairperson, Entertainment Society of Goa.
He said that the eighth edition of the state film festival will be held next year, instead of the usual ‘once in two years’ schedule.
At the closing event, the awards for the best film will be announced which carries a cash prize of 5 lakh. Best direction, best actor, best actress, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best story, best music director, best art director, best editor and 21 other awards are also up for grabs.
Performances by Sonia Sirsat and comedians Samir Chowgule, Meera Modak, CD Silva and others will feature at the closing ceremony on Sunday.
