Pramod Sawant on Saturday tendered his resignation as to Goa governor P S Sreedharan Pillai clearing decks for the formation of new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Goa.
The governor appointed Sawant as the caretaker chief minister till the next government is formed.
Sawant along with BJP state president Sadanand Shet Tanavade met the governor at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula to submit his resignation.
“CM has tendered resignation and until alternate arrangements are made this government will continue to be the caretaker government. During eight months as the governor of Goa, Sawant’s service and cooperation to the state were remarkable,” the governor said.
After tendering his resignation, Sawant said the Governor had appointed him as the caretaker chief minister.
