Goa orange alert: Heavy rain forecast till saturday by IMD
PANAJI: The India meteorological department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Goa, predicting heavy to very heavy rain over the next few days. According to the IMD forecast, Goa is likely to experience intense rain till Saturday. Also, isolated places are expected to experience heavy downpours.
The IMD has warned of short-term water logging on roads and low-lying areas.
The weather advisory warns of intense spells of rain, accompanied by strong surface winds gusting up to 50kmph. The weather pattern is expected to continue until Thursday.
IMD Delhi has specifically cautioned against venturing outdoors due to the risk of cloud-to-ground lightning strikes. The department has also mentioned an increase in rain activity over Goa on Thursday, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall anticipated over the subsequent five days.
In response to these weather conditions, IMD Delhi has advised precautionary measures and urged residents to stay updated with local authorities' alerts and advisories. Additionally, fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea until July 21 to avoid dangerous conditions.
