Goa Mahila Congress taunts BJP MP Smriti Irani, calls her Nautanki Queen
PANAJI
: In a shrill protest against the recent hike in domestic cooking gas price, the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee president Pratima Coutinho taunted BJP MP Smriti Irani and asked why "BJP aunties andnautanki
queens" were silent over the rising prices.“Where are the BJP aunties and nautanki queens today when inflation has risen so much?” Coutinho said while referring to the statements made by Irani in 2012 when the actress turned politician protested against inflation during the UPA 2 tenure.
Subsidised domestic cooking gas prices have been increased by Rs 2.89 per 14.2 kg cylinder to Rs 502.40, an all-time high. The price of non-subsidized cooking gas (LPG) has increased to Rs 883.5.
“Prime minister Narendra Modi gave a lot of hollow promises when he became the prime minister,” said Goa Mahila Congress vice president Beena Naik.
