PANAJI: Goa has good indicators in health sector and the maternal and infant mortality rate is extremely low compared to other parts of the country, Jt. Director, Dept. of Planning, Statistic and Evaluation, Vijay Saxena, said on Tuesday.
He was speaking at Goa Science Centre, where in collaboration with
Directorate of Health Services
and Goa State Family Welfare Bureau observed “World Population Day”.

Prior to the programme, Goa Science Centre and Planetarium organized essay writing competition and seminar contest for the students of higher secondary schools and colleges.
The winners of the essay writing competition were Sherry Martins of St.Xaviers HSS, Mapusa; Suvidhya Naik of Raghuvir and Premavati Salkar HSS, Chorao; Deanne D’Souza, of St.Xaviers HSS, Siolim, who secured first, second and third places respectively. While Siddhi Ghadi and Krisha Prabhudesai both won consolation prizes.
