Goa Cricket Association elections: Seven file nominations for president’s post

Panaji: As many as 28 nominations have been filed for various posts of the executive committee of the Goa

Cricket

Association, according to the list of nominations which was issued on Thursday.

The

GCA

will hold elections on September 22 for six posts president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and one member.

Apart from acting president

Suraj Lotlikar

, six more candidates are vying for the post which includes Anant Naik, Shamba Molu Naik Desai, Vilas Rama Desai, Dr Sagar Salgaonkar,

Daya Pagi

and Sushant Naik.

Megnath Shirodkar, Anant Naik, Shamba Naik Desai, Tulshidas Shetye and Manohar Naik have set their eyes on the vice-president’s post.

Vipul Phadke, son of former president Vinod Phadke, has thrown his hat in the ring along with secretary Daya Pagi, Hemant Angle, Paresh Phadte and Jeetendra Shah for the secretary’s post.

Sayed Abdul Majid, who resigned from Goa Swimming Association secretary’s post, will battle it out with Sudesh Prabhudesai for the joint secretary position.

M Modassir, the electoral officer, will scrutinise the nominations on Friday. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations on September 14 and September 16.
