GFP-NSUI panel wins GU students’ council polls

Panaji: Goa Forward Party (GFP) and Congress’ NSUI-supported joint panel won the Goa University Students’ Council polls on Tuesday for the academic year 2025–26.

After a long gap, the panel was not won by either an independent group or the ABVP panel. Sai Dessai was elected as the head of the Goa Forward Party–NSUI joint panel.


“It is an indication of the things to come at the 2027 assembly polls in the state,” he said.

“This is a huge win for us as it involved big efforts from all those involved, and the poll work went on from July to December. It is a victory for the whole of Goa. The students have given a strong message. It is a message for all opposition parties that if we combine forces, then we can turn things around in the upcoming assembly polls; otherwise, we will see the same scene as was seen in the ZP poll results on Monday,” said the winning student, Dessai.
