GFP: Goa polls will coincide with third wave peak

Margao: President of Goa Forward Party (GFP) Vijai Sardesai on Saturday took exception to the date of polling for Goa legislative assembly as, he said, it meant the state will go to polls at exactly the same time the third wave of the pandemic is expected to peak. “Health experts have said that the third wave that we are currently facing is likely to peak around mid-February. We are having elections exactly at that time. How will we have (good) participation in the elections? How are we to ensure the security of voters that the ECI has been stressing on?” he said.

Sardesai said his objections didn’t mean that he demands postponement of the polls.”
