Panaji: The Goa Football Association (GFA) will revert to a regular season from this year.
The football fever in Goa will kick off with the season-opening curtain raiser Charity Match between Goa Pro League champions Dempo SC and runnersup Salgaocar FC on August 15 at the Duler Football Stadium, Mapusa.
The GFA could only conduct the Goa Professional League during the last two seasons due to the Covid-19 pandemic since early 2020.
The competitions committee met early this week and prepared the calendar for the 2022-23 season. The plans were approved by the GFA executive committee on Friday.
The Taca Goa U-20 First Division and Second Division League will commence from August 16, along with the Third Division League.
The second edition of the Futsal Championship will be held from September 1 to October 31, while the Goa Women’s League will also commence on the same date and conclude on October 15.
The Goa Pro League, marred by match-fixing allegations for the last three seasons, will commence on September 10.
The Unde-16 First/Second Division, Under-14 First/ Second Division and the Under-14 Girls League will all start on September 17.
The U-18 First/Second Divisions League and Second Division League will commence in November.
The First Division League will be held in January, 2023, while the GFA also plans to conduct beach football in April next year.
The executive committee has decided to implement the change in the Laws of Game pertaining to five substitutions.
“Clubs must intimate the championships they intend to participate as per ability and confirm by August 6,” GFA said in a statement on Saturday.
Provisional or permanent clubs which have not renewed their registration can do so by July 25.
