While two of them kept the owner distracted, one of them attempted to steal a bottle of Scotch by hiding it in his raincoat.
Noticing this, the owner raised an alarm. The foreigners fled from the shop and drove in the direction of Arpora. Locals who gathered at the spot immediately rushed after them and managed to apprehend the three Georgians near the Arpora bridge. It is learnt that the trio had visited the store on previous occasions after which the shop owner had found some bottles of Johnnie Walker Red Label missing. When Saturday's incident tookm place, she immediately suspected the three had committed the earlier robber.
The police, who were also informed, rushed to the site and took the trio into custody. They were later arrested after an offence was registered against them under Sections 380 r/w 34 of the IPC.
Police suspect their involvement in other cases of shop-lifting reported in Calangute.
