PONDA: With Ganjem water plant on Mhadei river developing a technical snag, the water resources department (WRD) opened the Okamb Dharbandora bandhara on Thursday to rejuvenate the Khandepar river basin.
With the water level in the Khandepar declining due to hot weather conditions, WRD has been rejuvenating the water body by sourcing water from Ganjem water scheme.

Around 70 MLDof water from the Mhadei is being poured in the Khandepar.
Due to the snag at the Ganjem plant, the level at Opa water works in Khandepar was dipped to 3.23m on Wednesday
WRD assistant engineer Sadanand Naik said that the water level at Opa has been rising after his team opened the bandhara.

Opa assistant engineer Jaywant Prabhu said that the water level has been increased to 3.3m on Thursday. Last year on March 23, the water level stood at 4.6m, he said.
Naik said that there are 18 bandharas on the Khandepar and Kalem rivers, with a capacity of 21.8 lakh CuM of water in 12 bandharas over Khandepar river and a total 4.5 Lakh CuM spread in six bandharas over the Kalay.
