Former Quepem poll candidate in hot water

MARGAO: The Quepem police on Wednesday booked an offence against Joseph Gonsalves, who had contested the previous assembly elections from Quepem as an independent candidate, on charges of fraudulently withdrawing gold placed in a locker of a bank account jointly owned by his wife.
The complaint lodged by his wife Nalini, states that Joseph forged her signature on the NOC to the bank and withdrew gold ornaments worth 25 lakh from the bank locker, sometime in 2008.The incident came to light when Nalini returned to Goa from Dubai where she staying.
