FC Goa settle for 1-1 draw

Panaji: FC Goa settled for a 1-1 draw against Ajman FC in their third friendly during the pre-season tour in Dubai on Wednesday.
Chief coach Zico decided to give several non-regular players a chance to prove themsleves handing starting spots to the likes of Luciano Sobrosa, Keenan Almeida, Raju Gaikwad, Jonatan Lucca, Denson Devadas and Romeo Fernandes.The Brazilian legend fielded only three foreign players -- Elinton Andrade, Luciano and Jonatan -- among the starting eleven but he didn’t have to worry much.
Ajman served the Goan fans with an early blow as the home team scored from a long ranger that hoodwinked the goalkeeper in the eighth minute.
FC Goa were down 0-1 in the first session but immediately after resumption, the visitors got the equalizer, thanks to Gaikwad’s signature long throw-ins that was flicked to nestle at the back of the net by Sabeeth.
FC Goa have two more matches in Dubai, the first of which will be played on Saturday against Al Jazeera Club. The final pre-season friendly has been lined-up against Hatta Club on Sunday.
