Farmers to be compensated for damage to crops

With the unexpected rain in the state likely to have caused damage to horticulture crops and paddy, which are presently in the maturity and harvesting stages, zonal agriculture officers are in the process of surveying areas under their jurisdiction for damage to agricultural and horticultural crops.

PANAJI: With the unexpected rain in the state likely to have caused damage to horticulture crops and paddy, which are presently in the maturity and harvesting stages, zonal agriculture officers are in the process of surveying areas under their jurisdiction for damage to agricultural and horticultural crops.
Farmers are advised to report damages to crops due to the unexpected rainfall, before harvesting of the crops, to their respective zonal agricultural officers for claiming compensation under the ‘Shetkari Adhar Nidhi’ scheme.
