Exposition works delayed but will be completed before Nov 21, says Falcao
Panaji: The Exposition committee has acknowledged delays in preparations for the upcoming Exposition, which is scheduled to take place in Goa from Nov 21, 2024 to Jan 5, 2025.
Committee convener Fr Henry Falcao admitted that while the deadline for certain works was extended from Nov 10 to Nov 15, there are still challenges in meeting these revised timelines.
He attributed difficulties that have contributed to the delays to adverse weather conditions due to the post-monsoon rainfall in Oct and “various other reasons”.
Despite these setbacks, he expressed optimism that the necessary work would be completed in time for the event’s opening on Nov 21.
“We are hopeful that everything will fall into place,” Falcao said.
“For some of the works, the deadline remains Nov 10 as we hope to complete at least some cottages of the Pilgrim Village. These can accommodate 10 to 12 people each. Food for them will be outsourced. As days are coming closer, works are happening,” he said.
The Pilgrim Village, a significant part of the event’s infrastructure, will offer accommodation to walking pilgrims attending the Exposition from other states, countries or even distant villages of Goa.
“To manage the ongoing works effectively, the committee has been holding daily review meetings every afternoon to monitor progress,” Falcao said.
