Panaji: The Federation of Film Fraternity of Goa (FFFG) has “strongly condemned” the November 22 incident at the Iffi venue when Entertainment Society of Goa vice-chairperson Rajendra Talak told delegates from Kerala to “go back home” following a tiff. The federation has demanded that the state government replace Talak as the ESG vice-chairperson.
It has also extended an apology to the delegates visiting Goa for the festival.
“The gross arrogance of Talak has once again come to the fore with yesterday (Thursday)’s incident at Kala Academy. FFFG strongly condemns the act of Talak of abusing the visiting delegates and extends its apologies to all those who had faced inconvenience on account of misbehaviour and mismanagement by ESG office-bearers,” read the statement.
Association members said Talak had meted out a similar treatment to noted Goan filmmaker Laxmikant Shetgaonkar and other local filmmakers and their crew during the past editions of the festival.
“The administration and management of ESG has completely collapsed under Talak. The federation demands that the Goa government sack Talak immediately and appoint the right person,” the statement further read.
