ED takes possession of 12 properties linked to land grab cases

Panaji: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday took possession of 12 properties at Anjuna, Assagao, Nerul, Parra, Calangute, and Margao that were involved in alleged land grab cases. The total value of these properties is estimated to run into crores of rupees.

It also took possession of three other properties situated at Taleigao and Verna under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

ED deputy director Praful Vilas Wable said all those concerned are prohibited and restrained, until further orders, from transferring these properties by sale, gift, mortgage, pledge, or otherwise.

The ED began the process to auction land not having legal heirs that it has attached in connection with alleged land grab scams in the state. Notices have been issued to legal heirs asking them to come forward to claim legal rights over the properties.

The ED stated that if no one makes a claim, they will dispose of the properties.
