Don’t demolish residences at Headland-Sada: Amonkar to MPA
Vasco: Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Thursday warned Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) not to demolish any of the houses, which he said have existed at Headland-Sada for the last hundred years. Several locals from Headland-Sada on Friday confronted the MPA officials who attempted to resurvey an ancestral house, claiming that the property belongs to them. However, the occupants of the house and the locals, along with the Mormugao MLA confronted the officials and warned them not to touch any of the houses which exist in the area since the Portuguese regime.“Despite having all documentation, MPA is trying to grab the properties of native Goenkars. I will not tolerate such things. State govt is taking all possible efforts to legalise the houses of people that are lying on govt and comunidade lands,” said Amonkar. He asked the MPA officials to stop encroaching the properties and lands belonging to Goans, failing which, he along with locals will be forced to come on the roads to protest the irregularities of MPA.
