At least 55 flights were delayed, some for as long as six hours, as airlines grappled with the disruption.

Over 400 flights originating or landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) were delayed as dense fog impacted operations for the second consecutive day. This, in turn, led to cascading delays at all other airports across the country.

The country’s largest airline, IndiGo, decided to temporarily halt arrivals and departures from Delhi, which disrupted plans for many passengers.

Shashwat Agarwal, who was scheduled to fly to Chennai aboard Air India Express for an exam, missed his flight as his Delhi-Goa flight was rescheduled to Sunday. He missed his Goa-Chennai connecting flight.

In an advisory to passengers, IndiGo asked passengers to be patient as the delays were due to the bad weather in Delhi, which is beyond the control of the airlines.
