Defence minister to launch beautification works at Parra on Easter Sunday

Parra: Union defence minister, Manohar Parrikar will launch the beautification of the Parra tinto on Easter Sunday afternoon, according to Calangute MLA, Michael Lobo. Parra is Parrikar's native village.
As a large number of tourists drive down to the popular tourism hub of Calangute-Candolim along the Mapusa-Calangute road via Parra, there was a need to widen the road and also beautify the junctions with traffic-easing circles, gardens, pavements, besides elegant bus-stops and colour-coordinated, painting of houses and buildings, Lobo said.
Most of this work is undertaken through donations from corporates as part of their corporate social responsibility. The junctions at Verla-Canca and Parra circle have already been completed, while the Jaknibandh junction is currently being widened because of the rise in tourist vehicular traffic.
