Panaji: The high court has told the contractor and govt agencies to comply by Monday with the directions on ensuring the safety of commuters affected by the Porvorim elevated corridor work. The HC issued the direction on Thursday while hearing a PIL, after advocate general Devidas Pangam submitted a compliance report stating that some stretches have been hotmixed while others have not.
The report also said that dark stretches still exist, with illumination pending.

The HC is hearing a PIL by advocate Moses Pinto which has sought measures for public safety and commuter convenience as the construction of the elevated corridor at Porvorim on NH 66 causes severe congestion. Govt had told the contractor to ensure proper illumination to increase the visibility for motorists.
Pangam said the PWD is yet to install signboards indicating the locations of ambulances and their contact numbers; and the contact details of the Goa police helpline, the Porvorim traffic cell PI, and the Porvorim PI.
The information has already been shared with the PWD, the HC was told.
