Cops rescue 50-yr-old from abductors, arrest three

Margao: In a successful interstate operation, Goa police rescued a 50-year-old Karnataka man who was abducted from Davorlim. They also arrested three suspects from Maharashtra.

Shankar Rathod was abducted by four individuals on Jan 27 at around 7pm near Our Lady of Rosary Church in Zariwada, Davorlim. The incident came to light when his son, Ishwar, 24, filed a police complaint.

Special teams were immediately formed and deployed to Karnataka and Maharashtra. Through technical surveillance, call monitoring, and intelligence gathering, the police tracked down and apprehended three suspects: Vishwas Pandhare, 36, from Jat, Sangli; Abhishek Rathod, 19, and Abhishek Rathod, 24, from Tanda, Solapur.

Investigation was led by PSI Veronica Coutinho. All three accused are in police custody, while the search for the fourth suspect continues. The victim was rescued and brought back to Goa.

Further investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the abduction and to also apprehend the remaining suspect.
