Cops register 2 cases of illegal hill cutting, land filling at Canacona

Canacona: Two cases of illegal hill cutting are being investigated by the Canacona police. Based on the complaints of hill cutting and land filling at Loliem-Polem and Agonda from the town and country planning (TCP) department, offences have been registered against four people.

According to police inspector Harish Raut Desai, an FIR against Anand Naik, Krishna Naik, and Ulhas Naik, residents of Polem, was registered. The complaint was filed by the draughtsman at deputy town planner, Vinay Fal Dessai, against the three about five months ago.

Desai said the case is being investigated by sub-inspector Ramdas Doifode.

The second FIR for alleged illegal hill cutting was filed on Nov 7 against Purshottamot Naik Gaunkar, accused of illegal hill cutting in a property at Agonda.

PSI Rajshekhar Reddy is investigating the case.
