PANAJI: Supporting Goan cricketer
Shadab Jakati and two other cricketers who have been dropped by the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) from the Goa Ranji team, the Congress party demanded the resignation of GCA president Suraj Lotlikar.
The Congress also called for an independent committee to be formed to conduct an inquiry into the controversy.
Interestingly, both Jakati and Lotlikar are members of Goa Forward Party, which is an alliance partner of the BJP in the Goa coalition government.
A day earlier, Jakati, who has taken 275 wickets for Goa in 92 first-class matches, blamed Lotlikar for inducting former India captain
Mohammad Azharuddin’s son and another player from Karnataka into the Goa squad.
“We are not against outside players playing for Goa as long as they are professional and they can help our Goan cricketers learn the sport,” Congress spokesperson Amarnath Panjikar said.
