PANAJI: Reacting to Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho’s statements daring the Congress party to expel him, the Congress on Thursday said no one is stopping him from resigning from the party and that he will be expelled shortly anyway.
Briefing mediapersons, Congress spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar said that Mauvin Godinho is bound hands and feet by the BJP because of the power rebate case filed against him by Manohar Parrikar, but, only his mouth has been left open to criticize the Congress.
Said Kawthankar, “If he is unhappy with the Congress and its leadership, why does he not resign and contest again on the BJP ticket?”
Kawthankar said that Godinho is “romancing” the BJP only to get relief in the power rebate case. “Mauvin Godinho has become a political plague. The Congress does not want him and the BJP does not want him. We will sack him soon. But, he can also resign,” Kawthankar said.
GPCC secretary Vaman Chodankar of Vasco, who claimed a long association with Godinho, also slammed the Dabolim MLA and urged Godinho to resign from the party.
