Chinchinim p’yat launches water conservation drive

Panaji: On March 22, World Water Day, Chinchinim-Deussua panchayat launched an initiative for citizens to report water leaks to address water conservation and reduce wastage.

The panchayat urged villagers to report water leakage from public pipelines or community taps to their ward representatives.

“The collected reports will be addressed by the panchayat in coordination with PWD (water supply) to ensure swift action and repair,” said sarpanch Frank Viegas.

Viegas and panchayat members highlighted the role of community participation in water conservation. “Every drop counts. The climate crisis is a water crisis. Let us save water,” they said.

“By acting together and addressing leakages promptly, we can save tonnes of water and ensure a sustainable future for our village,” Viegas said.

PWD technical assistant Sanjay Pagi praised the panchayat for taking the initiative to address water leakages.

Residents welcomed the initiative and supported the cause. The panchayat thanked them and assured follow-ups on repairs.
