The six-lane highway corridor at Porvorim, a Rs 350 crore project funded by the ministry, was inspected by officials over two days, including a review of the proposed Borim bridge.

“He inquired about technical matters, materials, and traffic movement during construction for both projects. He also reviewed other national highway expansion works in Goa,” said a source.

Amid opposition, state govt recently finalised land acquisition for the new Borim bridge, acquiring 3.40 lakh sqm of land at Loutolim, Borim, and Bandora. Officials said compensation procedures for the acquired land will begin soon. A four-lane cable-stayed bridge has also been planned at Borim.
