CBCI meeting of close to 200 Bishops underway in Bangalore

of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) in Bangalore between February 12 and 19.

, the assembly will focus on 'Dialogue: The Path to Truth and Charity'.

CBCI has stated that in today’s context, especially in the present situation in the country, dialogue is an important means to promote harmony and solidarity among all the sections of society.

In a press conference, Cardinal Gracias stated that the Church is at the forefront of nation building and is second to none in its loyalty and its contribution to the Nation and added that the way forward for the Church in India is Dialogue.

The CBCI has close to 270 members and incorporates Bishops of three Episcopal bodies: The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), of the Latin Rite, headed by Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrão, with 190 bishops from 132 dioceses, the Bishops’ Synod of the Syro-Malabar Rite, headed by George Cardinal Alencherry, with 37 dioceses and 63 bishops and the Episcopal Synod of the Syro-Malankara Rite, headed by Baselios Cardinal Cleemis, with 11 dioceses and 16 bishops.
