Cavelossim panchayat bars vehicles from entering beach
Colva: To safeguard the coastline, the Cavelossim village panchayat has installed vehicle barriers at paths leading to the beach, cautioning domestic tourists against driving onto the sandy stretch.Sarpanch Dixon Vaz said, “With the onset of the monsoon, Goa witnesses a surge in domestic tourists. While many come to relax, some attempt to drive their vehicles onto the beach, which poses a serious threat to human safety and violates the regulations established by govt.”To prevent such dangerous and irresponsible behaviour, the panchayat has erected barricades at multiple access points to Cavelossim beach. Clear warnings have been posted, informing visitors that any violation will attract penalties. “This is an annual measure we undertake,” Vaz explained. “Our aim is to maintain the pristine beauty of our beach.”The Cavelossim panchayat’s intervention underscores the growing need for stricter enforcement of beach safety norms, especially during peak tourist seasons. Local authorities hope that such measures will not only ensure public safety but also promote responsible tourism and environment conservation.
