Catholic Connect app’s audio tours to help pilgrims explore monuments at Old Goa

Panaji: Against the backdrop of the Exposition of the relics of St Francis Xavier, the Catholic Connect app of the Catholic Church in India is offering audio-guided tours of various monuments and churches in Old Goa.

The audio-guided tours explain the history and architecture of the heritage churches and monuments in Old Goa. The tour also provides the location of the monuments on the map for easy access.

These tours, which greatly help the visually impaired, are available on the app in English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, and several other regional languages. Tours in Konkani and Marathi are yet to be activated on the app.

The churches and monuments covered so far in the app are the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Se Cathedral, church of St Francis of Assisi, convent and church of St Cajetan, church of Our Lady of the Mount, old college of St Paul, Chapel of St Francis Xavier, convent of St Augustine, convent of St John of God, convent and church of Santa Monica, chapel of St Anthony, and church of Our Lady of Rosary.

The Catholic Connect app recently introduced digital services at the Exposition to support pilgrims and enhance their spiritual journey.

The app offers comprehensive features for the Catholic community, providing special assistance, resources, and digital access to the faithful attending the 45-day event, including those who are unable to visit in person.

The app will also highlight designated areas for prayer, relic veneration, and other facilities within the shrine at Old Goa, along with in-depth information about the relics.
