Cabinet OKs creation of 18 posts in different depts

Panaji: The state cabinet on Wednesday granted approval to create 18 contract and permanent posts in different departments. Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that the finance department circular does not stop the recruitment process for govt departments, but the actual recruitment will be completed after March.

“The appointment would be delayed by two months, and they will be appointed in March. We have not stopped the process of recruitment,” Sawant said.

Ahead of the presentation of supplementary demands in Feb, the state finance department on Tuesday put restrictions on the utilisation of funds with immediate effect. Govt also banned its departments from creating new posts with immediate effect.

Sawant said that approval was granted to create 15 contract basis posts in the directorate of mines and geology, including assistant mining engineer, junior geologist, junior mining engineer, head surveyor, and field surveyor, until the permanent posts are filled.

Govt also granted approval for filling up one post of assistant professor in psychiatric nursing on a contract basis. The state cabinet granted approval for the creation of two regular posts for deputy director of prosecution under the directorate of prosecution.

The state cabinet granted approval for engaging the services of Dr D Antoine as principal of Goa College of Veterinary and Animal Science under the directorate of animal husbandry and veterinary services.

Sawant said the cabinet granted ex-post facto approval to the Goa (rules for admission to postgraduate degree and diploma course of the Goa University at the Goa Medical College) Rules, 2024, for admissions.

Speaking on removing villages from from ecologically-sensitive areas (ESAs) of the Western Ghats, Sawant said that his govt is in continuous touch with central govt over the issue. The Union environment ministry has sought a revised proposal from state govt regarding the finalising of villages that need to be dropped.

On the mining issue, Sawant said that the deputy director of mines is in touch with villagers to restart activities, which are opposed in some villages.
