Cabbies booked for harassing tourist in South Goa

Vasco: Verna police registered a non-cognisable offence against local taxi operators at Arossim for harassing and abusing a tourist and forcing him to travel by their vehicle instead of the taxi booked by him to get to the airport.

The tourist said that on Sunday, he had booked a taxi to drop him at the airport from the hotel he was staying at, but the car in which he was travelling was blocked outside the hotel gate by some local taxi operators. The tourist added that the local taxi operators harassed and abused him and the driver of his taxi. They then forced him to travel by their vehicle.

He alleged that he was charged three times the amount to drop him to the airport. The tourist said that the dispute between taxi operators in Goa has caused him major hardship.
