Borimol-Talem bridge brings relief after decades

Canacona: The 50-year demand to link Borimol and Talem in Gaondongrim, Canacona, was fulfilled with the footbridge’s inauguration by speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar on Wednesday.

Built at a cost of Rs 5 lakh, the new footbridge will ease travel for locals of Borimol and Talem, who face connectivity issues.

“It is unfortunate that a schoolgirl drowned in the river while crossing, some years ago. The project may be small, but for Borimol and Talem locals, it is crucial during the monsoon. This footbridge will cut the distance short by 4km,” Tawadkar said.

Ward panch Sarita Gaonkar, Canacona BJP chief Prabhakar Gaonkar, Gaondongrim ex-sarpanch Vishant Gaonkar, WRD engineer Dhananjay Nagvekar and many villagers were present.
