Canacona police have recovered the body of an unidentified man of around 34 years at Palolem beach on Sunday. According to police, they received a phone call informing them that a body of a well-dressed man was lying on the Overem-Palolem beach wearing a jeans pant and a yellow and red colour shirt. No missing report has been lodged at the Canacona police station.
Police sent the body for an autopsy in Hospicio, Margao.
LPG truck turns turtle at Raia: A truck carrying 300 filled LPG cylinders from Verna industrial estate to a dealer in Panaji turned turtle after hitting a road divider at Uzro-Raia on the Margao-Ponda four lane road on Monday evening. The driver, who sustained injuries, has been shifted to the Hospicio hospital. On getting the information, Margao fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and inspected the cylinders for any possible leakage.

PWD worker's kin gets financial aid: Employees and officials of public works department (PWD) in Bicholim on Monday handed over a cheque for instant financial assistance to the family of their colleague, the deceased Kamlakant Parab. The cheque was handed over to the deceased's wife Kamini in the presence of PWD asst engineer D K Shet, Rashmi Mayekar, Rohidas Naik, Prashant Gawas, Nandkishore Kesarkar and others.
Census in Bardez and Ponda talukas: The socio-economic and caste census will begin on November 15 in Bardez and Ponda talukas. Census teams will be visiting houses on all working days during office hours and if necessary, beyond office hours and even on holidays for the purpose of collecting data. The teams will be asking questions to which, answers have to be provided by the household members. The district administration has appealed to members of the public to extend all co-operation and assistance to the census teams. The public has been requested to approach the taluka mamlatdar, who is designated as the census officer, for any information or problem in this regard. The census is currently underway at Tiswadi, Sattari, Bicholim and Pernem.
Aadhaar, NPR mandatory: Citizens have been requested to enrol under Aadhaar as well as National Population Register (NPR) in the interest of national security. The enrolment for Unique Identification Number through Aadhaar card and enrolment for NPR for issue of identity card are two different things and both are equally important for all the members of the public. Both are mandatory for each and every person states a press release issued by the state department of information and publicity.
