B’luru researcher to get Manohar Parrikar award

Panaji: Mohit Kumar Jolly from the department of bioengineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, will be the recipient of the Manohar Parrikar Yuva Scientist Award 2024.

The award will be presented at the Manohar Parrikar Vigyan Mahotsav at NIO on Dec 13, the birth anniversary of former CM Parrikar. Announcing the award on Saturday, chief minister Pramod Sawant said that Jolly has been “doing cutting-edge research in cancer treatment”.

The expert committee, headed by Anil Kakodkar, former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, selected Jolly from 82 applicants, of which, they shortlisted 12 for a personal interview.

The award comprises a citation and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, which is currently the highest in the field of science and technology.
