PANAJI: After the latest blow to the
BJP in the form of its senior-most leader and former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar parting ways with the party, senior election observer of the All India
Congress Committee P Chidambaram on Sunday said that BJP was “reaping the
poison
it sowed”.
“What BJP did to us between 2017 and 2019 is coming back to haunt them. You reap what you sow. Their own people are leaving them. BJP
sowed
the poison, and it is
reaping
the poison,” Chidambaram said, replying to a media query.
In MP, Karnataka, Manipur and other states, Chidambaram said, it was BJP that sowed the “seeds of Operation Lotus”, which was “buying people”, but that very thing is haunting them now.
He said every party has been affected by defections. Congress has deep roots in Goa, and it is confident of forming the next government, he added.
Congress which was the biggest casualty of defections in Goa since 2017, on Saturday, gave a pledge to its candidates at a temple, church and dargah that they would remain loyal to the party after they were elected.
