Bicholim reels under acute water scarcity

BICHOLIM: Many parts in Bicholim town are reeling under acute water shortage since the last three days.
Areas like Sonar Peth, Sundar Peth, Dhabdhaba, Sarvan Nagzarwada and surrounding areas have not been receiving tap water.
Some areas have been provided water through tankers, the others still continue to remian severely affected.
“We have been facing a torrid time as we have not been getting any water since the last three days,” said Samrudh Chodankar, a resident of Sonar Peth, Bicholim.
“People have to travel great distances to fetch well water, which is hectic and time consuming. However, people who don’t even get tanker water as suffering the most,” Tanvi Sawant, a housewife residing at Sarvan, said.
When contacted, public works department (PWD) assistant engineer, Talikutti said the problem occured owing to a technical fault at Padocem water treatment plant. Talikutti added that the problem will be resolved within the next two days.
