Bengaluru couple hurt in hit-and-run on Chimbel flyover
Panaji: Old Goa police booked a case against a Santa Cruz resident in a hit-and-run case on the Chimbel flyover last Tuesday, in which a couple from Karnataka were injured. The vehicle of the accused, Jolly Ninan, crashed into the couple’s car, causing it to spin three times and crash, while Ninan fled the scene.
The case was registered on Sunday. Police filed an offence against Ninan for driving his car in a rash and negligent manner. A notice has been served to the accused.
The police report states that the accused, while proceeding from Panaji towards Old Goa in an SUV, without taking proper care and caution, proceeded to suddenly change his lane while driving on the Chimbel flyover.
The FIR states that he carried on to change lanes at very high speed, due to which his car hit the SUV in which the couple from Bengaluru were travelling.
The complainant said that due to the impact of the crash, their SUV hit the divider and rammed into an electricity pole and spun thrice. This left the occupants, Anil Kumar and S Preethi, injured.
