Basilica to be shut to tourists for Holy Week
Panaji: The Bom Jesus Basilica at Old Goa will be closed for visitors from the morning of April 2 till 11am on April 5, on account of services during the Holy Week Triduum.
The basilica’s rector, Fr Patricio Fernandes, said all liturgical services that will be conducted during the sacred Triduum will be in English.
On Maundy Thursday (April 2), the Lord’s Supper, liturgical service will begin at 5pm. On Good Friday, the Passion of the Lord, liturgical service will begin at 3pm. Earlier in the day, there will be devotions that include the Way of the Cross (10am), the Three Hour Agony (12pm), and Divine Mercy Novena.
On Holy Saturday, the devotion, ‘Mater Dolorosa’, will be conducted at 10am. The Easter Vigil service will commence at 11.30pm.
On the morning of Easter Sunday (April 5), Masses will be celebrated at 6am, 7am, 8am (Konkani), and 9.15am (English) at the Bom Jesus Basilica. tnn
