Baina service rd to be repaired after 25 years

Vasco: With the Baina service road getting a hotmix layer, the long-pending demand of Baina’s traditional fishermen is set to be fulfilled soon. The road has been in bad condition for over 25 years.

“A highway was proposed here in 1974, but it did not materialise. People residing in and around Baina beach have been facing hardship due to the lack of a motorable road. The fishermen were also facing immense hardship as they had to use the dilapidated service road to transport fish from the seashore,” said Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar.

“It is a moment of happiness for the residents of Baina as their long-pending demand is being fulfilled,” he added.

The hotmixing work was launched by Amonkar in the presence of Mormugao BJP president Sanjay Satardekar, BJP south district vice-president and Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco, president Jayant Jadhav, councillor Shraddha Amonkar, officials of Gammon India Pvt Ltd, and others.

Amonkar thanked chief minister Pramod Sawant for making immediate provision for the hotmixing of the road. This will also boost tourism activities at Baina beach, he said.
