Assocham suggests logistics to revive defunct industrial units

Panaji: With 327 non-functional industrial units, the Goa state council of Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) has urged these units to utilise Goa Industrial Development Corporation’s (IDC) exit support scheme.

Assocham Goa chairman Manguirish Pai Raiker said sick or closed unit promoters should rethink and consider alternatives like warehousing and logistics.

“The entrepreneurs should either utilise their plots for logistics and warehousing, transfer their plots, or surrender them for the next generation,” said Raiker.

He also said the exit support scheme is a “positive step” for sick industrial units.

He said the new logistics and warehousing policy could foster a “favourable environment” for warehousing.
